Yeah, this was a situation of too much background work that didn't wind up in the story.
What I didn't include is that Tracy's eventually going to be MtF trans. At this point in the comic, he's confused about why he doesn't feel right in his body. But like Eric thinks, he comes back to save the day. *dramatic music* He'll sort himself out eventually, poor dear.
