It's been monens since you've kissed a male and meant it. You wonder how much this is worth. This is the first line that I didn't interpret the POV as John Crichton's. ;)
The story is honest and unsentimental, and yet there's a gentleness to how you write this girl, who loses her innocence and gains experience, loses some of her softness but doesn't grow utterly hardened. She is capable of kindness, and each life she makes, she keeps parts of to show her who she is, who she was, who she will be.
