The way I think I hoped it would read was that this was Giles being a father figure of sorts... making it all the more disturbing (Attempt at a subtle Lolita reference, for example. Of course, it's probably as subtle as a sledgehammer, but hey. My writing ability went walkabout and hasn't come back yet.)
