ETA: Okay, now that I’m not on my way out the door, I can provide a bit more feedback than generalized squeeing. Don’t get me wrong, though, because I’m truly thrilled beyond the telling of it that you wrote Ray’s half of this story. I’ve had requests for it, but I haven’t been able to go back to that ‘verse. If you don’t mind, I’ll be pointing people this way, should they ask about Ray.
I love that you kept the general structure of “Soul Surrender, “ and I love even more that your story provides a coherence I deliberately left out of the original. Ray is grieving, yes, but he’s still anchored in the world, and your narrative does a beautiful job of showing that contrast to Ben’s disjointed experience.
Another thing that makes me squee is the way you reference due South canon throughout, but in a gentle, sensible way. It provides balance to the original, which I generally kept rooted in BSG canon.
I know I’m repeating myself, but I have serious, serious love for this remix. I got lucky last year when 47_trek_47 took on “Tripartite,” and I got lucky again with you, whoever you are.
