This is just wonderful. I love stories about stories, and this one seems especially right in the Supernatural universe, where lore and myth are so central to the plot, but certain bits of the myth need picking up, and others discarding; little details matter so much, yet it's often not clear until too late which details are the important ones.
His story--their story--begins to change, begins to not-so-slowly become something else. And no matter how much salt he pours across windowsill and threshold, no matter how much holy water he casts about, no matter what kind of sigil he draws on the ceiling, he cannot stop the story from changing. - I *love*.
Your portrayal of John, changing and obsessing and unable to stop himself thinking about things over and over, was beautiful. Poor John, and Mary, and boys...
