Oh, man, I absolutely love this idea! And I was a big fan of the original, too, so of course it becomes even more fascinating with the twist. It just breaks my heart; I cried, I seriously cried. WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE TOGETHER AND HAPPY? *sniff*. Makes me want to go and rewatch the whole Stacy arc, because, by all the gods, I love these two together. The almost-meta of the final scene is my favourite part.
