I actually think part of his reaction is that he feels submission is not something men do; I think it's partly a gender thing, and an inability to reconcile his desire to do it with the socialization he's had all his life (which is why he acts like such a jerk to Sam, for instance). Now I think I mis-read the story.
I thought it was about McKay liking this but he is nobody's tool. Maybe because I've always seen canon McKay and Sheppard as two alphas that somehow work. Sorry, I'm just a reader.
