First off, let me say again how happy I am that you liked this!
It's so sad, because Rodney is so fascinated with his own reflection and what Sheppard's change potentially means for his own body that he doesn't really understand what he's seeing.
I found the original sad and I really wanted to reflect that feeling with the remix, so I'm really glad that came across. Rodney is not only SO caught up in both his own curiosity about the machine means to his own situation, but also in the the idea that being in a female body must be one of the most horrible things that's ever happened to John because he's been there and it was horrible for him.
And yeah, of course Rodney's family just assumed that Meredith was gay because she liked girls and wanted to be a boy. I actually think that that paragraph was one of the most important ones in the whole fic and so it made me pretty happy when you mentioned it.
Thank you so much for writing "Sheppard's Choice;" it's such an excellent fic and it was a joy to remix.
