Oh, holy wow. This is amazing. This is beautiful and heartbreaking and totally wonderful. You took that tiny little story, and the canon we've gotten since it was written, and created something so powerful and real!

Mostly, though, John was a warm presence, his voice soft and sometimes cracking as he read, from Aa-Al, Am-B, C.

The fire went out completely when he cracked the spine on J.
