This is an interesting mood change. Your John started to bristle the moment the Marine darkened his doorstep. I liked Dean squares his shoulders, wonders if he’s about to be sent off to Be a Man, and I can immagine that if his dad agreed, Dean would have immediately signed up with a, "Yes, sir."
