Reading this was like reading my own fic, only through a weird prism, where the details are completely different, but it's still the same picture. And it's brilliant, because that IS the heart of the Remix - taking that familiar scenario & distorting it, but not breaking it.
I love that you kept the same POV, even, as my original, and yet still managed to tell a new version of the story, that you gave Sam & John their voice, that you put in all of those little details that made their 'normal' home life interesting (and somehow heart-breaking), but under it all, it's still all the same. It's still all about Dean's need to feel needed and John maybe-sort of getting it, all courtesy of a bright-faced young Marine.
