I had penknife's J/W/E 'verse in mind when I wrote this - the idea that Elizabeth had been very much a part of all this before, but the events of DMC created a rift. A large one. I love the idea of J/W/E myself, and I write them together myself - just couldn't bear to leave them apart at the end of this fic :-)
