I started writing fanfiction not long after my mother passed away (writing made for a welcome distraction), so the few Joyce-themed stories I've done are special to me. Your take on Joyce's decision is a reminder that even when mothers know they can't do anything to help, they still want to know about their children's trials and tribulations and worry about them. It's what moms do. :-)
