And I think you're right on, about Mal and River—the thing for me is that, post-Serenity, River's no longer dealing with Miranda in the same way, but that doesn't mean that she's not still crazy. She's been hurt and changed, and she's not quite right in the head, nor ever will be—but there are ways of coping, you know? There are workarounds. And for Mal, I think, it's a lot easier that she be slightly insane than that she be all better—he wouldn't know what to make of that, or how to trust it.
