The first four paragraphs of the second section are really well-crafted -- the obvious observation about Jean being impossible to surprise, seguing understandably to poker faces, nicely seguing to Remy's interest in Jean (which totally reminded me of Logan), and a nice step to his vulnerability (which I think is both unlike and like Logan).
And his desire to remember her "beautiful and unsurpriseable and oh, so alive" is beautifully phrased and oh so poignant.
